Nutrient use efficiency
PFC 6(B) - Non-microbial Plant Biostimulant
ProtoHumiX® – non-microbial plant biostimulant
A certified plant biostimulant supporting the natural nutrition processes of plants, efficient nutrient use, tolerance to abiotic stress and crop quality.

ProtoHumiX® is one product with two separate certified functions: soil improver and non-microbial plant biostimulant.
How does the plant biostimulant work?
ProtoHumiX® stimulates the natural nutrition processes of plants independently of its own nutrient content. The PFC 6 function is directed at improving one or more characteristics of the plant or the rhizosphere.
Tolerance to abiotic stress
Quality traits of the crop
Availability of confined nutrients in the soil or rhizosphere
Support through the key growth stages
Early development
Supports germination, early development and root formation, within the product’s substantiated claims.
Nutrient efficiency
Supports the use of nutrients present in the soil and those applied through fertilisation.
Abiotic stress
Supports natural tolerance to drought, temperature fluctuation and other unfavourable non-living factors.
Quality development
Contributes to crop development and quality traits under suitable agronomic practice.
Precise application
The active water-soluble fractions allow use through fertigation and foliar treatment with suitable equipment.
Application methods
| Method | Currently published dose | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Working solution | 500 ml in 100 l of water | 0.5% solution |
| Seed treatment | 100 ml per 100 kg of seed | Soaking for 5-6 hours, or mechanised treatment |
| Fertigation | 100 ml in 30 l of water | Root application, according to the crop and the plan |
| Foliar application | 700-800 ml, maximum 1000 ml, in 200 l of water | Confirm the area and growth stage against the label |
Use chlorine-free water. The specific dose, the area, the number of applications and compatibility with other products are set by the current label, the crop and the agronomic plan.
Where the label permits tank mixes, run a physical compatibility test first and follow the labels of all products involved.
Application by crop group
The plans currently published are below. Before applying, confirm the dose, the area and the growth stages against the current label and with an agronomist.

Trials across different crops
Between 2014 and 2025, more than 30 trials were carried out across different crops and different soil and climate conditions. The results page publishes examples on wheat, triticale, potatoes and other crops.
Results depend on the crop, the soil, the climate, agronomic practice and the plan applied, and are not a guarantee of the same outcome under all conditions.

Frequently asked questions
Is ProtoHumiX® a fertiliser?
ProtoHumiX® is an EU fertilising product with the function of a non-microbial plant biostimulant. Its function is to stimulate the nutrition processes of plants, not to supply the bulk of the nutrients as a standard fertiliser does.
Is it applied to the leaves and to the root?
Yes. Plans for foliar treatment, fertigation and seed treatment are published on this site. The exact plan must follow the current label and the specific crop.
Can it be used in organic production?
The product has been assessed for use in organic production under the conditions of the accompanying confirmation. See the Organic farming page.
